Comfort you can reach for, any time it strikes

A throbbing migraine. A tension headache that’s crept up your neck by 3pm. A hot flush that arrives without warning, right when you’re trying to sleep. The Icebrim Cooling Relief Cap was designed around one idea: relief shouldn’t require a chemist run, a rigid ice pack sliding off your head, or a plan.

Slide it out of the freezer, pull it on, and let gentle, even cooling settle over your whole head — forehead, temples, and the base of your skull — while a soft contour blocks out light for full sensory relief.

Built to fix what other cooling caps get wrong

Most cooling caps on the market either lose their chill within fifteen minutes or come out of the freezer so cold they’re uncomfortable to wear at all. Icebrim’s gel core is formulated to stay soft and pliable well below freezing, so it contours to your head from the moment you put it on — no painful hard edges, no early warm-up.

We also heard the most common complaint about generic caps: they don’t actually fit. Icebrim’s 360° design and V-notch nose contour are shaped to sit properly around the eyes and bridge of the nose, so it stays in place whether you’re lying down or moving around the house.

This is a comfort and self-care accessory, not a medical device, and it isn’t a substitute for advice from your GP. If your headache pattern changes suddenly, or you’re using painkillers more than two days a week, that’s worth a conversation with a healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wear the Cooling Relief Cap overnight while sleeping?

We don't recommend sleeping in the cap while it's cold. Continuous cold contact should be limited to around 20 minutes so you stay aware of how your skin is responding — and while asleep, you won't notice early warning signs like numbness. If you want light-blocking comfort overnight, an unchilled sleep mask is the safer choice. You can absolutely use the cap for a focused 15–20 minute session before bed as part of a wind-down routine.

How do I wash and look after my cap?

Never machine wash, hand-submerge, bleach, iron, or dry clean your cap — this can damage the internal gel and the stretch of the fabric. Instead, wipe the outer fabric with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air-dry completely flat. Store it in its protective bag when not in use, which also keeps the gel from picking up any moisture or odours from the freezer.

Is it okay to wear makeup, creams, or skincare products under the cap?

It's best to apply the cap to clean skin, free from creams, oils, or cosmetics. These products can be held against the skin under continuous compression, which may cause irritation, and some can degrade the stretch fabric over time.

When should I speak to my GP instead of relying on the cap?

The cap is a comfort and self-care accessory, not a treatment for underlying medical conditions. Speak to your GP if your headache pattern changes suddenly, your attacks become more frequent or severe, or you find yourself needing painkillers more than two days a week. If you have Raynaud's phenomenon, poor circulation, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease, check with a healthcare professional before using temperature-based products.

How long does the gel stay cold once it's out of the freezer?

Icebrim's gel core is formulated to hold a comfortable cooling temperature for significantly longer than typical cooling caps, which often warm up within 10–15 minutes. Because sessions are recommended at 15–20 minutes, one full freeze should comfortably cover a session. For back-to-back use throughout the day, our Rotation Twin Pack means a second cap is always ready.

Can I heat the cap up for warm therapy instead of cold?

Yes. Remove the cap from its storage bag first — never microwave it inside the bag, and never heat it while it's frozen. Heat in a microwave-safe environment for 20 seconds on medium power, then carefully test the temperature on your inner wrist. If you need more warmth, reheat in short 10-second bursts, without exceeding 60 seconds of total heating time. Wear the warmed cap for 10–15 minutes to help ease tight muscles in the head, temples, or neck.

Does the cap block out light for sensitivity to brightness?

Yes. The cap uses a contoured nose opening and a dense, light-absorbing fabric across the eye area, designed to block ambient light fully — helpful for anyone who finds bright light unbearable during a migraine or tension headache.

Is the cap suitable for menopause hot flushes and night sweats?

Many of our customers use it exactly for this. The cooling sensation offers quick, soothing comfort when a hot flush strikes, and a short session before bed can help you settle down after a night sweat. It's a comfort accessory rather than a treatment for menopause itself, but it's designed with exactly this kind of everyday relief in mind.

Customer reviews

Doesn't hurt to put on, unlike my old one

Verified purchase

The big difference for me is that it doesn't feel painfully cold the second it comes out of the freezer — my old cap was almost unbearable for the first minute. This one is soft and cold straight away without the shock.

My hot flush emergency kit

Verified purchase

I keep one in the office freezer and one at home. The second it hits me I know exactly what to reach for. It's soft enough that I don't feel silly wearing it in front of my kids either, which was a real worry with the bulkier one I had before.

Finally, one that actually fits

Verified purchase

I've tried three other cooling caps and they either slipped off my nose or warmed up in ten minutes flat. This one stays put and stays cold for my whole 20-minute session. I keep it by the freezer door now — genuinely part of my evening routine during a bad migraine week.

Great fit, wish I'd bought the twin pack from the start

Verified purchase

Really comfortable and the light-blocking is genuinely full coverage, not just around the eyes. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish I'd known about the twin pack option before ordering — one cap just isn't enough on a bad day. Ordered the second one within a week.
